Power and Performance
Across its eight available trim levels, the latest evolution of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 boasts five optional powertrains - including a diesel engine. Equipped standard with a 4.3-liter V6 exerting 285 horsepower and 205 pound-feet, and amended with a 6-speed automatic transmission, drivers opting for the Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss models receive the powerful and efficient performance of this tried-and-true engine.
For drivers throughout Burbank, IL and Blue Island seeking an additional degree of power, a 5.3-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management comes available on the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trim levels. This formidable powertrain exerts 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet, and comes paired with an 8-speek transmission. Drivers opting for the 5.3-liter V8 with Active Fuel Management receive the same power specifications, but a 6-speed transmission instead of the 8-speed accompanying the former variation of this powerful engine.
Sitting atop the engine lineup for the 2019 model year in terms of displacement, the behemoth 6.2-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management exerts an impressive 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fitted with a 10-speed automatic transmission, this impressive engine comes available on the LTZ and High Country trim levels.
Two additional engines come available for drivers either seeking the additional fuel efficiency of a lean, turbocharged engine, or the high-torque benefits of a late-availability diesel engine: a 2.7-liter turbo, and a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine. The 2.7-liter turbo engine produces an impressive 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet, while the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine's specifications are yet to be determined, but are likely to provide exceptional fuel efficiency and high torque output.
